July 22-23 - City

Meet Info
Note: There is a LOT of info here.  Make sure to read through it all to avoid confusion this weekend.

Hello Cardinal families,

Thanks to all who are volunteering at the City meet at Neuqua Valley High School this weekend.   The worker list is linked just above, so you can confirm which job you are signed up to do.

Here are some details you need to know to help the meet run smoothly:

Friday Evening (15-18 years old swimmers only)

Swimmers arrive and Marshal workers check in at 5:15pm.  All other workers check in at 5:30pm.  Jobs last for the entire meet.

The meet will begin at 6:30pm and the estimated finish time of the meet is 8:40pm.

Saturday AM (10 & under swimmers)

Swimmers need to arrive at 6:30am.  The meet organizers changed our warm up time to 6:45 am, so the caravan will leave from Scott School at 6:10am instead!  This is a change from the earlier email sent by Joanna LaPerna earlier this week.

 -  Worker check in begins at 6:30am.   ALL workers (Sessions A & B) need to be checked in by 6:45am.  I will have nametags for you at that time.

 -  Each job will last for half of the meet.  Session A jobs cover the start of the meet to event 31, while Session B jobs cover event 31 through the end of the meet.  There will be designated points in the meet when the switchovers take place, depending on the job you have volunteered for.  I will give you more specific infomation at check in.

Saturday PM (11-14 years old swimmers)

 -  Swimmers will warm up at the NCH pool at 10:30 am.  The caravan will leave from the pool at 11:10am with an estimated arrival time of 11:25 at Neuqua.  Swimmers not taking part in the caravan need to arrive at Neuqua by 11:30 am.

 -  Worker check in begins at 11:45am.   ALL workers (Sessions C & D) need to be checked in by 12 noon.  I will have nametags for you at that time.

 -  Each job will last for half of the meet.  Session C jobs cover the start of the meet to event 59, while Session D jobs cover event 59 through the end of the meet.  There will be designated points in the meet when the switchovers take place, depending on the job you have volunteered for.  I will give you more specific infomation at check in.

General Information:

 -  There will be an oversight leader from one of the teams for each type of job that will be your point person during the meet.  Todd Welu and I are handling Awards for the Saturday AM sessions.

 -  No one should miss their own child's events.  If your job is not on the pool deck, there should be enough help in your area to cover your job while you go and watch your child swim.  Your area oversight leader should help you with this.

 -  A few rules (to keep us all out of trouble):  there is absolutely NO food or drink (other than water) allowed in the team areas in the gym!  Neuqua has asked us to have all families take their coolers down the hall to the cafeteria where the concessions area is located.  The marshals will be enforcing this rule.

      Spectator Area Rules

1. No saving of seats.
2. No swimmers or swimming gear in stands.
3. No bringing blankets or towels into stands.

      4. No strollers.

      5. No folding chairs allowed.

 -  On Saturday, we will all sit together as a team in the gym adjacent to the pool area.  Please bring your swimmer’s sign to tape to the gym wall!  (we can only use blue painter's tape)

 -  The City line up is posted at the pool.  If you see an "ALT" by your name under the relays this means you are an alternate and may need to step in if needed.   This is a very important job if something were to happen to a relay member (which has happened in the past!)

 -  Make sure you have an extra suit (you’d be surprised!), cap, and goggles.  PLEASE wear the current team “uniform”:  plaid suit, Cardinal cap, etc.  Parents:  wear your Cardinals gear or RED!

Please let me know if you have any questions about the meet or your job.

Go Cardinals!!

Hi Cardinal Families,

Congratulations to all the Classic swimmers on their 1st place finish!  We had such a great time decorating cars together.  Thanks to Chris Walsh and Jeff Dezur for all the awesome cardinals they drew!  We certainly had the most team spirit!  The caravan was quite the sight--20 plus cars pulling into Metea and being greeted by Coach Terry.  It truly set the tone for such a fun and successful meet.

This weekend there are 3 sessions of the City Meet.

FRIDAY, JULY 22ND

3:15---Meet in the pool parking lot, if it is crowded we can overflow onto Leamington and Chatham Court.  We can decorate the cars!  Bring window paint if you have it, if not, there is some to share.

3:45--The high school swimmers will warm up at NCH before their big meet.  Let's cheer them on as they swim and give them a send-off at 4:00.  We encourage any family, not just families with City swimmers, to come down and cheer the high schoolers on.

SATURDAY, JULY 23RD

6:10 am (NOTE TIME CHANGE)---10 and unders---Meet in the Scott School parking lot to Caravan to Neuqua Valley High School.  There are only 19 swimmers so hopefully most people will be able to caravan so we can show up in style!  We need to be there by 6:30 am and our swimmers have been assigned the 6:45 am warm up time.

10:30 am---11-14 year old swimmers will practice at NCH prior to going over to Neuqua.  Families can leave from the pool to caravan to Neuqua at 11:10 to be ready for warm-ups at noon.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

GO CARDINALS!
